We have two Kmart stores in my town. We always run out of sale items quickly, and people will have us check in the back. If we don’t have it, we call the other store. The other store in our town is much smaller than the one that I work at, they carry less than we do and run out of everything faster.
So almost every single time I tell them that the other store doesn’t have what they’re looking for, they just sit there and stare at me in complete silence for about a minute. I usually have to explain it like this:
If you spend $100, I will take 20% off the $100, which comes down to $80. Then I take another 20% off the $80, which comes to $64. Then they’ll complain about having to pay $4 more than they thought they would.

I don’t know if this has happened to any of you Canadian Robins, but when I used to work at American Eagle, we happened to have one of the older style five dollar bills in the register. I gave it to a lady as change and she looked at me like I gave her a drawn bill. The weird look I had to hold back.
